I am a Midwest girl (though some may question the “girl” part based on my age, which of course I am not revealing).  I can’t ever remember not loving to draw and paint.  When I was in the 5th grade I was drawing floor plans for my “dream houses”.

I majored in art my first year in college, making all ‘A’s’ (my recollection may not be the same as my college transcript, hopefully it works for the purpose of this story).  Then one day one of my professors told our class that the art profession was not particularly lucrative and that we could all end up selling paintings at starving artist sales at Holiday Inns.  I promptly said to myself, “OK, now that’s a problem”, since my love of art is closely matched by my love of shopping.  I knew that a constant flow of massive amounts of money was going to be necessary to support the lifestyle that I hoped to become accustomed to.  So I became a business major and graduated with a degree in Accounting.  Now to most people, Artist and Accountant are about as far away on the career spectrum as one can get.  From my perspective, they both start with the letter 'A' and I was trying to stay with something at the beginning of the alphabet.  If neither of those had worked out, next thing on the list would have been Architect, which if you remember, was a love since the 5th grade when I was drawing floor plans .

My life plan evolved and art was relegated as a hobby which I vowed to fully immerse myself in when I retired from the corporate world. Occasionally I would do pieces for friends and family.  A few years ago my husband and I moved to a wonderful home that had large open wall spaces.  Our art collection at the time consisted of small pieces that were no match for the void I needed to fill.  So I shopped and shopped (which was wonderful because I could combine shopping and art) but couldn’t find pieces that called to me.  So I decided I would paint something myself.  The feeling of completing a piece that I loved was exhilarating!  The bug had bit me again.

I work with a variety of mediums depending on the piece.  For the most part my work is abstract but I can always call up “reality” if need be.   Many of my pieces have been custom designed for a specific space.  I like to view the space and work with my clients to create the perfect piece for them.  If you are looking for something unique I would love to work with you.
